Teva Introduce Freeride Shoe

4 November 2011  |

In the fall of 2011, Teva®, will introduce its first bike shoe - the Links. Designed in collaboration with professional mountain biker Jeff Lenosky, the Links is a purpose-built freeride shoe loaded with technical features. "Teva has been supporting freeride mountain biking over the last five years with its sponsorship of one of the top ten freeride events in the world at its annual Teva Mountain games," states Joel Heath Global Marketing Director.

"Jeff was the Teva Mountain Games' guide in introducing freeride mountain biking to the event in its early years, so this product introduction and collaboration is an organic evolution for the brand. In combination with Jeff's expertise, we have built the Links on the areas of performance that our consumer insights indicated we have permission to go. Just like our traditional performance product, the Links will have outstanding traction with uncompromising water management technologies that made Teva famous." The Links features a sole specifically designed to interface with the unique platform of a bike pedal, made from Teva's proprietary Spider365 sticky rubber. An aggressive tread pattern on the toe and heel provide great traction off the bike. The shoe also has flexible armor in key wear areas and uses ion-mask™ nano-coating technology for complete water management. A Shoc-Pad in the heel provides critical cushioning and the Mush® infused insole adds Teva's signature comfort.

"I worked with Teva's product team for over a year to build this shoe," notes Lenosky. "We didn't compromise on any aspect of the design, using the very best materials, style and technology available. I've been wearing them and riding in them for a few months and I'm really proud of the finished product."

About Teva
Teva is a global adventure brand dedicated to helping people Live Better Stories. The concept of "adventure" is very different depending on who you talk to, but everyone understands an adrenaline rush, a dopamine high and a staggering sense of wonderment. These are the moments Teva helps provide. Since its birth on the Colorado River in 1984, Teva has a deeply ingrained connection to water, which is manifested in their products and the cause they stand for: clean water. In 2011 and beyond, Teva is launching "A Pair for a Foot," and, along with nonprofit groups the Waterkeeper Alliance and the Ocean Conservancy, will clean a linear foot of global waterways for every pair of shoes sold. It's a tall order, but Teva is taking it on so that everyone can Live Better Stories for years to come.
